3-vehicle crash blocks U.S. 93 near Somers
A three-vehicle wreck on U.S. 93 south of Somers blocked traffic around the west side of Flathead Lake for a few hours Wednesday afternoon.
The crash was reported at noon at mile marker 101. Traffic was detoured onto Old U.S. 93 until the scene was cleared at about 1:30 p.m.
The accident occurred when a 16-year-old driver allegedly rear-ended a vehicle attempting to make a left turn, pushing the vehicle into an oncoming car, according to Montana State Trooper David Mills.
The 16-year-old was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center as a precautionary measure and was cited for following too closely behind a vehicle, said Mills, who responded to the scene.
All three vehicles had to be towed off the roadway.
Considering the amount of damage to the vehicles, Mills said the drivers were very lucky there were no serious injuries.
