Stillwater girls fall to Foothills in MCAA state title game
GREAT FALLS — Stillwater Christian School fell behind early and never recovered in falling to Foothills Community Christian School (Great Falls) 54-34 in the championship game at the Montana Christian Athletic Association state girls basketball tournament on Saturday at Great Falls Central High School.
Foothills jumped in front 15-9 and 30-13 after the first two quarter stops.
Dori Smith was held to nine points and Adrianna Lambert added seven for Stillwater (11-12).
Smith pulled down 17 rebounds.
Adair Henning led Foothills, and all scorers, with 24 points.
“Foothills got a jump on us and we never could quite catch up,” Stillwater coach Sarah O’Rourke said.
“We couldn’t get our shots to fall in the first half. Foothills’ leading scorer was 6-foot-2 senior Henning. We knew we needed to stop her to win this game, but we couldn’t quite do it. When we made a run in the fourth quarter, she answered with big scoring. The girls played with a big heart and battled it out to the end.”
Henning scored 10 of her points in the final eight minutes.
