Glacier boys slide by C-Falls

COLUMBIA FALLS — The Glacier boys dominated their final nonconference game, topping Columbia Falls 65-32 on Thursday night at Larry Schmautz Memorial Gym.

Glacier (9-1 overall) led 19-5 after the first quarter and 40-12 at half in the rout.

Brec Rademacher had a game-high 15 points and Caden Harkins had 12 points for Glacier. Jaxen Hashley added 10 points and six rebounds for the Wolfpack.

Logan Stephens had a team-high 11 points for Columbia Falls (2-8).

EUREKA — Bigfork outscored Eureka 17-3 in the first quarter to run away with a District 7B victory.

The Vikings (5-0 7B, 9-2 overall) maintained the early lead through halftime, then outscored the Lions 21-15 out of the break to secure the win.

Logan Gilliard had a game-high 17 points, Anders Epperly had 13 points and Beau Santisteven chipped in 12 points for Bigfork.

Brad Stein led Eureka (1-4, 2-7) with 11 points.

TROY — Troy bounced back from a dismal first quarter to beat Noxon in a nonconference game.

Noxon led 11-2 after the first quarter but the Trojans woke up before halftime, pulling to within 19-13 at the break.

Troy locked down on defense in the third quarter, going on a 16-2 run out of halftime to take control in the game.

Zack Cotten and Dillon Savage each led Troy (2-6) with 12 points and Mason Chapel had 10 points.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Columbia Falls trailed by 10 points at half, but rallied to take the lead in the third quarter, closing strong to remain undefeated.

The Wildkats (10-0) struggled with ball control, committing 10 turnovers in the first half against a swarming Glacier defense.

Trailing 18-8 at halftime, Columbia Falls scored 21 points in the third quarter to take a 29-28 lead and held off Glacier in the final eight minutes to secure the win.

“Give Glacier a lot of credit, they had us on our heels a little bit,” Wildkats coach Cary Finberg said.

“When we did get opportunities we didn’t make them. They caused us a lot of problems.

“We started being a bit more aggressive and taking care of the ball better (in the second half).”

Peyton Kehr had 13 points and Dani Douglas 12 points to lead the Wildkats.

Nikki Krueger led Glacier (3-7) with a game-high 16 points.

“It was good for our girls to have some adversity and respond to that adversity,” Finberg said.

“Hopefully we can respond to that and get that corrected.”

The Columbia Falls girls continue a difficult week of games tonight at Missoula Sentinel (8-0), the top-ranked team in Class AA, and on Saturday at Frenchtown (9-1), the Wildkats’ top competition in the Northwest.

EUREKA — Bigfork doubled the score on Eureka early and rolled from there for an easy District 7B victory.

Bigfork, up 14-7 after the first period, led 30-9 at the half.

“They played aggressive, got quite a few steals on us and transition baskets,” Eureka coach RJ McDole said.

Jaime Berg and Emilee Park led a balanced Bigfork (4-1 7B, 7-4 overall) attack with nine points each.

Shae Anderson, Abby Ellison and Rakiah Grende had eight each.

Erynn Their led all scorers, and Eureka (2-3, 4-5) with 13 points.

Eureka plays at Whitefish tonight.

Bigfork hosts Libby on Saturday.

The Maidens (12-0) led 35-2 after the first quarter and 57-8 at halftime before stepping off the pedal in the second half.

Alicia Camel had a team-high 18 points, Micalann McCrea had 16 points and Lee Camel had 15 points for Ronan.
