Bigfork High School Speech and Debate wrapped up the season placing second at state.

Bigfork finished with 85 points overall at the Class B-C Speech and Debate Tournament this weekend. Loyola took the state title with 149 points.

The team had four state champions including: Riley Hoveland, Memorized Public Address; Reuben Hubbard, Impromptu Speaking; Grace Olechowski, Original Oratory; and Anya Young, Informative Speaking.

“We had an amazing tournament, top to bottom. The kids worked so hard all year and were rewarded for their efforts,” Bigfork Head Coach Charlie Appleby said. “I am humbled by their talent and dedication, and the amazing support of my assistant coach Shelby Andersen and managers Kamron Rogers and Rachel Whitney. Second is a great accomplishment when you put in perspective Loyola’s amazing 34-year championship streak, but we are hungry to be like them, and work has already begun for Bigfork to challenge the best of the best at next year’s state tournament.”
