Burnell C. Larson, 72

Burnell C. Larson was born March 10, 1945, and passed away in Mesa, Arizona, on June 28, 2017.

He was raised in Warren, Pennsylvania, by his parents George and Fran Larson. He graduated from Warren High School in 1963 and pursued a degree from Youngstown State University.

After working in Ohio he decided to move to Missoula where he met the love of his life, Marge Slama. From 1975 to 1976 Bernie worked from the Morrison Knutson Company in Zaire, Africa. He liked to tell stories of his adventures in Zaire.

Bernie and Marge enjoyed watching their children play sports in Missoula. They also enjoyed their time golfing at the Missoula County Club. Bernie was an avid Grizzly fan. Marge and he attend all home and many away games for the Grizzly football and various others men’s and women’s Grizzly athletic activities.

After retirement, Marge and he built their retirement home on the Shore of Bitterroot Lake in Marion. Bernie was an avid golfer and met various new friends on the golf course in Kalispell. He also enjoyed fishing Bitterroot Lake in retirement.

After a few winters in Marion, Marge and Bernie decided to go south for the winter. This is when they found Mesa and bought a small place. He enjoyed Mesa, golfing and meeting new friends.

Bernie is survived by his wife Marge Larson of Marion; his sons Scott Larson of Banger Maine, and David Slama (Lisa) of Polson, and daughter Mary Rehm (Brent) of Helena; and grandchildren Brandon and Morgan Rehm of Helena, and Hudson and Haden Smith of Polson. He is also survived by many sisters in-law, brothers-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.

No memorial service will take place. Donations may be made to the Grizzly Athletic Association.
