WHITEFISH — Tom Hellwig and Ryan Veneman had three hits in as many at-bats, Coby Clark-Dickenson drove in three runs and the Glacier Twins A bounced back from Friday night’s defeat with an 11-8 victory over the Butte Miners AA early Saturday afternoon and an 8-4 triumph over the Spokane Expos in a late evening game at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament.

Glacier raced to an early lead with six combined runs in the first two innings of the American Legion baseball contest with Butte.

The Miners took an 8-6 lead with a four-run fourth inning, but the Twins responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth and two runs in the fifth.

In addition to his three hits, Hellwig scored a game-high three runs and added two RBIs.

Greyson Bistodeau hit a two-run home run and scored another run after being hit by a pitch for the Twins, who scored 11 runs in two of their first three games at the tournament.

Clark-Dickenson allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings, but Jack Schwaiger provided 1 2/3 of one-run relief to close the game for Glacier, which has won 23 of its last 27 games.

Glacier scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach versus Spokane.

Spokane scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to trail 4-3.

Clark-Dickenson was the key on offense again. He went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs. He tripled while Bistodeau, 2 for 3, and Veneman both doubled.

Glacier had eight hits.

Tyler Murphy picked up the victory with six strong innings. He allowed three hits, fanned four and walked three.

Matt Morrison pitched the seventh inning.

The Twins (3-1 in tournament play) will be involved in semifinal action at 11 a.m. today.
