Orville Lee 'Glen' Glendening, 88

Orville Lee “Glen” Glendening, 88, passed away July 10, 2017.

Glen was born in Roscoe, Missouri, in 1928.

He is survived by his wife Mollie Glendening, son William Glendening, daughter Elizabeth Glendening Arnold and stepson Jeff Pernell and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife Norene Glendening.

Glen retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of distinguished service on both surface ships and submarines. During his Naval career he received many honors including being a member of the “gold crew” aboard the first ballistic missile submarine USS George Washington (Groton, Connecticut) and, after achieving the rank of Master Chief, serving as Chief of the Boat (COB) for the USS Menhaden (San Diego).

Glen moved to Kalispell in 1973 where he completed his degree in forestry and became an instructor at Flathead Valley Community College. He spent many summers working as a forest ranger for the Spotted Bear Ranger Station in the Flathead National Forest.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, July 13, at Darlington Burial Services (www.darlingtonfunerals.com). Directly following the service will be the honor guard service and interment at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Glen would be honored for friends and family to make donations to the Flathead County Animal Shelter.
