Dennis 'DJ' Ronald Jarvis, 77
Dennis “DJ” Ronald Jarvis, of Bigfork, passed away at his home on July 14, 2017.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at The Church at Creston. Family and friends will also have a gathering at the church immediately after the service.
DJ was born Dec. 13, 1939, in Hanford, California, to Alvin and Blanche (Schrader) May. He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, California, and did some college courses at UCLA.
He married Lynn Frances Firth on May 14, 1961. DJ joined the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1962 and retired after 26 years on a service disability.
DJ created several businesses over the course of his life. He built cabinets and taught himself how to program computers, producing one of the first checkbook management programs ever built for a personal computer — Simi Valley CA. DJ was a partner in a publishing software business — Woodland Hills CA. He was a partner in a home building company and was partnered with his son in an online recruiting business — Bigfork MT.
He enjoyed working on cars, camping, fishing, boating, water skiing, hiking, and spending time with family.
DJ was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elaine (Jarvis) Danbacher, and niece Leanne (McCord) Decker.
DJ is survived by his wife Lynn, sister Carol McCord of Long Beach, California, daughter Deborah (Peter) Rivera of San Fernando, California, son Stephen (Terri) Jarvis of Hamilton, son Matthew (Patty) Jarvis of Livingston, granddaughter Danielle Jarvis of Seattle, grandson Kevin Jarvis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, nephew Bryan McCord of Long Beach, sister-in-law Aprille Firth Johnson of Wofford Heights, California, and nephew Bob Borth Jr. of Wofford Heights. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
