Lavon P. Hill Sr., 82

Lavon P. Hill, 82, of Columbia Falls, succumbed to COPD and asbestosis in Whitefish, surrounded by his family, on June 19, 2017. He was born Jan. 25, 1934, to Dallas and Catherine (Ansutz) Hill in Palouse, Washington.

On Jan. 31, 1954, he married Marlene Lindsay in Libby.

Lavon worked as a logger for 30-plus years until he was forced to stop due to his illness.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and stock car racing.

Lavon is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughters, Deana (Terry) Green, and Donna Blake; sons, Lavon P. Hill Jr. (Lorna), and Lonnie Hill; brother, Gene Hill; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Lavon was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many.

Lavon was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; infant daughter, Diana; mother and father-in-law, Earl and Ida Lindsay; two sisters-in-law, Patty Hill and Edna Lindsay; and infant granddaughter, Lindsay Hill.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 23, at Columbia Mortuary. Funeral services for Lavon will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at Columbia Mortuary. At Lavon’s request he will be laid to rest amongst his friends at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.
