Gerald 'Jerry' Martin Tucker, 86

Gerald “Jerry” Martin Tucker was born Jan. 26, 1931, in Missoula, the son of Reginald “Red” Tucker and Eva Olsen Tucker. He was raised and educated in Missoula, an alumnus of the Missoula County High School Class of 1949. He graduated from the University of Montana in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. He then served two years in Japan and Korea as an officer with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a life member of the American Legion, Elks Club and Lions Club. He was active in the Alumni Club of the Sigma Nu Fraternity in Missoula and Kalispell until his death.

Jerry died on June 24, 2017, at the Memory Care Unit of The Springs at Missoula of natural causes.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lyn Hestekin Tucker; two sons, Michael (Mysta) of Missoula, and Steve (Lynne) of Kalispell; and one daughter, Karin (Dave) Hergesheimer; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Shirley (Gene) Schmidt, and a daughter Jeryl (Gary) Byers.

Jerry spent most of his working life as a banker in Missoula, Great Falls, Conrad and Havre; where he started the First Security Bank of Havre and served as the president until his retirement in 1980, when he went to work as a broker for D.A. Davidson in Kalispell, and moved to their home on Flathead Lake. He retired from D.A. Davidson at the age of 75 in 2006 and moved back to his hometown of Missoula in 2010.

He will be buried in the family plot in the Polson Cemetery. Private services have been held by the family.
