Hill 3rd in 5,000-meter run at Nationals Indoor meet

NEW YORK — Glacier High School distance runner Annie Hill finished third in the girls 5,000-meter run on Friday at the New Balance Nationals Indoor 2017 Track and Field Meet at the New Balance Armory.

Hill crossed the finish line in 17 minutes, 7.26 seconds.

Brie Oakley of Aurora, Colorado, blew the field away with a time of 15:55.75. She is the 2016-17 Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Sara Platek of Jamestown, North Carolina, was second, 16:48.09.

Amanda Vestri of Webster, New York, placed fourth, 17:21.56.

There were 27 runners in the final, all finishing under 20 minutes.

Ten girls had times of 17 minutes.

Hill will run the two- mile event on Sunday.
