Workshop focuses on government contracts

Robert Much from the Native American Development Corp. will conduct a government contracting 101 workshop from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes computer training room in the lower level of the Old Tribal Complex in Pablo.

The session will cover the basics of government contracting and online certifications needed to do business with the government. Much also will be available Wednesday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for government contracting counseling assistance.

Flathead Electric annual meeting set March 18

Flathead Electric Cooperative will hold its 80th annual meeting for members on Saturday, March 18, at Canvas Church, 255 Summit Ridge Drive, in Kalispell.

Registration and breakfast runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with entertainment at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m. a short business meeting will be held, which will include trustee candidate introductions, information about the cooperative activities and door-prize drawings that include a grand prize for $500 electric bill credit. Four $500 scholarship drawings will be held for graduating high school seniors who will be attending accredited Montana colleges.

Flathead Electric has spent $8.2 million on system upgrades in the past year and replaced 43,048 feet of old and failing underground cable. The co-op attended 1,229 new services in 2016, more than any year since 2007, according to a Flathead Electric fact sheet. The co-op had total assets of $278.6 million as of Dec. 31, 2016.

Learn to navigate difficult discussions in workplace

The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce offers a session on Thursday, March 16, about how to have tough conversations in the workplace.

The session runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Chamber office, 15 Depot Park. Susan Clarke and CrisMarie Campbell from Thrive! will present information and tips for effective communication and a variety of tools for preparing and having difficult conversations successfully.
