An excessive amount of rain in recent weeks has caused a delay in opening the new Whitefish City Hall.

The city had planned a ribbon cutting for May 19, but that has been rescheduled to Monday, June 5, to give Martel Construction time to wrap up the final details of the project, according to City Manager Adam Hammatt.

The interim City Hall at 1005 Baker Ave. and the Parks and Recreation and Planning departments in the Depot Park building will be closed Friday, May 19, to accommodate the move into the new facility at the northeast corner of Baker and Second Street.

The new City Hall will be open for business at 8 a.m. Monday, May 22.

An agenda is still being finalized for the June 5 open house. Hours are 3 to 5 p.m., and the event will include a ribbon cutting, placement of a time capsule, short speeches by city officials, cake and tours of the new facility.
