Kalispell City Council on Monday approved a preliminary plat for a new commercial development in North Kalispell.

AMI Development and Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation plan to create six commercial lots and one utility lot on 6.8 acres at the intersection of Treeline Road and Old Reserve Drive. The proposed Treeline Center plans include a hotel, a restaurant, office and retail space and an undesignated utility lot.

The land is primarily owned and managed by the DNRC for the benefit of Montana’s school trust.

A traffic study estimated the subdivision would add 1,846 daily vehicle trips to the area. No traffic control or roadway changes were recommended as the development isn’t expected to create any capacity problems.

The center will join numerous developments that have cropped up in the area over the last 15 years, including the bypass, Glacier High School, the U.S. Forest Service and Montana DNRC offices, the expansion of the Kidsports Complex, single- and multi-family developments, a fire station and a hotel.

City Council approved the plat request with 13 conditions.
