After a rainy first meeting, the Flathead and Glacier softball teams enter today’s season-ending doubleheader with a chance to enter the postseason on a roll.

Both teams enter the game on mild hot streaks, Flathead topping Polson on Tuesday and Glacier winning two of its three games in the last week.

Despite the rainy weather and sloppy conditions of the first meeting, the bats for both teams were working in an 18-8 Glacier victory. Flathead had two home runs and a double in the loss and Glacier had four home runs, including a grand slam from Alivia Atlee to finish the game in the sixth inning.

With only two games left before play-ins, both teams are guaranteed road games next week, though seeding is still up for grabs. Helena Capital secured the top seed from the Western AA and a bye into the state tournament earlier this week.

Glacier (3-8 Western AA, 5-13 overall) has 24 runs in its last three games and can stay ahead of Missoula Hellgate for fifth place in the conference with a win in today’s conference game. The Wolfpack has been dominant in the series against Flathead, going 31-4 against the Bravettes all time.

Flathead (0-11, 2-15) is locked into the seventh seed but could build a win streak heading into the first play-in game. The Bravettes found some pop on Tuesday with late home runs from seniors Kylee Meredith and Kylee Beccari to earn a win on senior night.

The opener of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Kidsports Complex.
