Stolen money leads to loss of job

Columbia Falls Police took a report from a business owner who said she had video footage that showed an employee stealing money. When confronted, the employee denied taking any money, but the employer asked the employee to add “former” to her title. No charges were being pursued.

An alert customer reported that an ATM machine downtown had its front door open. The safe inside was actually secure, but the open door looked like an “invitation,” so police added extra patrol until a security company could arrive on scene to lock up the door.

Whitefish Police received a complaint from a citizen who reported seeing two political signs that appeared to be on city property (possibly the public right of way) on East Fourth Street. The possible ordinance violation was logged, but no determination was made at the time.

A man was reported to be threatening to kill people in the downtown area just after midnight Sunday. He was advised that there is already a warrant out on him and told to go home, but the same man was reported 15 minutes later cursing and “screaming at the top of his lungs” on the viaduct. Officers again responded, and the man was arrested but released on bail.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on State Park Road and was processed through the hospital in Kalispell. Her vehicle was released to a sober driver.

Kalispell Fire Department responded to an accident at the intersection of U.S. 2 West and Meridian Drive a little before 8 p.m Saturday. Paramedics provided advanced life support.
