Stanly Alden Abernathy, 68

Stanly Alden Abernathy, 68, passed away on May 15, 2017, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. He died of acute hypoxic respiratory failure due to amyloidosis.

Stan was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on May 3, 1949, to Chester and Lucy Abernathy. Stan was raised in Yacolt, Washington.

He met and married Ruth Ann Ruonavaara in Calumet, Michigan, in March 1974. They raised nine children together in Yacolt.

Later, they moved to Kalispell. Stan was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lucy Abernathy, brother-in-law David Kysar, sister-in-law Ardith Homola, and nephew Jude Gillettte.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Abernathy, of Kalispell; his sons, Lee (Faith) Abernathy of Kalispell, Ward (Lori) Abernathy of View, Washing-ton, Paul Abernathy of Amboy, Washington, and Mark (Heidi) Abernathy of Yacolt; and his daughters, Jody (Kyle) Reddig, Rosée (David) Benson, Sarah (Elden) Reddig, and Kelly (Mike) Ost, all of Kalispell, and Jessica (David) Tanninen of Amboy; also 45 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held May 16. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, May 17, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lakeside. Burial will take place at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
