Porcelain studio opening in Kalispell

| May 18, 2017 2:00 AM

YY Designs’ new studio and showroom will have its grand opening Saturday, June 3 from 1 to 5 p.m.

YY Designs is located at 860 Two Mile Drive in Kalispell and features the art of Kalispell’s Yvonne Stolter, who started making porcelain sinks in 2007 and now incorporates items found in the wild into her art. Pieces currently on display include sinks, tiles, bowls, tableware and objects of art that use antlers, pinecones and other found items.

“The Hunter’s Table,” a series of plates, bowls and serving pieces developed over the course of a year, is the featured display piece. It includes antler rims around each bowl and antler handles on every serving piece. Each piece was originally sculpted in clay, with a plaster mold then made to produce duplicates. Everything has been produced, poured, fired and glazed by hand.

Stolter’s artwork can be found in homes and businesses throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The studio will be open by appointment only following the June 3 event. For more information, call 406-249-6293.
