Legion Baseball Lakers A top Bandits, Redbirds in tourney play
The Kalispell Lakers A bounced back from a Friday night loss by beating the Calgary Redbirds A 11-4 and the Cranbrook Bandits 5-3 on Saturday at Archie Roe Field in the Canadian Days American Legion baseball tournament.
The 2-1 record puts the Lakers in the championship game today at 1 p.m. at Griffin Field versus Cranbrook. Logan Siblerud will pitch for the Lakers. This will be his first appearance in the Canadian Days.
Kalispell, 6-4 overall on the season, had three big innings against the Redbirds in an afternoon contest, scoring three times in the first and sixth innings and pushing four runs across the plate in the third.
Jonathan Craver went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs to power the Lakers.
Evan Todd, 2 for 3, also drove in three runs.
Cole Crosby, 2 for 2, had an RBI and scored three times.
Taylor Morton drove in two runs.
Craver, Crosby and Todd all doubled once.
Clayton Jaques pitched the final five innings. He allowed three hits, three runs, struck out three and did not walk a batter.
In a morning outing versus Cranbrook, Tyler Kitch went 3 for 5 to lead the Lakers hit parade from his leadoff spot.
Kalispell had 13 hits.
Crosby, Jaques and Nate Vanderbeek had two hits each.
Doubling were Ryan McDonald, Crosby and Morton.
Kalispell took a 2-1 lead in the second inning and added a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh.
Todd pitched six innings to get the win. He allowed six hits, three runs, walked three batters and struck out three.

Kalispell outhit the Camrose Cougars 9-2, but came up short on the scoreboard at Archie Roe Field on Friday night.
Crosby went 3 for 4 for Kalispell. He doubled along with Olson and Joy, who finished with two hits and had the lone RBI.
Todd, Nate Kelly and McDonald shared mound duties for the Lakers to combine on a 2-hitter.
McDonald, who pitched the final two innings, gave up one hit, struck out four and walked one batter.
