Peacock, DiGiallonardo 1st at Western A Divisional

CORVALLIS — The Corvallis boys and girls won the team titles on their home track Saturday at the Western A Divisional track meet.

The defending state champion Blue Devils girls team edged out Hamilton and Dillon for the crown. Columbia Falls finished fourth.

Columbia Falls freshman Kimberly Peacock ran away from the field in the 3,200-meter run, finishing in 11 minutes, 38.93 seconds to win the event by 26 seconds. Wildkats senior Kaitlyn Casazza finished second in the 300 hurdles in 49.51 and the girls team finished second in the 1,600 relay.

Whitefish’s Lauren Schulz finished top four in both the 100 (fourth, 12.88) and 200 (third, 26.41) and the Bulldog girls were third in the long relay.

Polson’s Bea Frissell followed up her 1,600 win on Friday with a second-place finish in the 800 on the final day, crossing the line in 2:21.35.

The Columbia Falls boys placed second as a team, with senior Sage Wanner completing his sweep of the distances by winning the 3,200 in 9:52.17. Wildcats teammate Braxton Reiten finished second in the 100 and Dakota Bridwell was second in the javelin.

Whitefish senior Tyler Cote placed third in both the 100 and 200 and anchored the Bulldogs 1,600 relay team that finished second. Bulldogs junior Alex Barker was second in the high jump after clearing 6-0.

Polson senior Danny DiGiallonardo won the 300 hurdles in a personal best 41.24 seconds and classmates Matthew Rensvold and Tanner Wilson each placed in the 100 and 200, Rensvold finishing second to Dillon speedster Troy Anderson in the 200. Anderson won both sprints by a healthy margin.
