Wolfpack wins Western AA track

The Glacier boys sprinted away from the field after a successful second day at the Western AA Divisional track meet on Saturday at Legends Stadium.

The Wolfpack won with speed, led by junior Drew Turner, who was first in the 100- and 200-meter dash finals by a hair. Turner edged Helena’s Zander Mozer by .02 seconds in 11.08 in the 100 and nosed him in a photo finish 22.18 finish in the 200.

In equally dramatic fashion, Glacier’s Tyler Combs topped Flathead’s Micah Bucy by two one-hundredths of a second to win the 400.

Adding to the total on the final day, Glacier junior Hunter Nicholson, already a winner in the long jump on Friday, won the triple jump with a career-best leap of 44 feet, 5 1/4 inches, the third-best mark in the state this season.

Missoula Sentinel easily took the girls team title, winning six of the nine events on the final day.

Flathead sophomore Madde Boles cleared a personal best height of 5-5 to win the high jump.

Flathead finished seventh as a team. Glacier finished third.
