Softball Libby romps in B-C state tournament opener
FRENCHTOWN — Khalyn Hageness tossed a 2-hitter, tripled and drove in three runs while Abbey Ennenga and Madisen Monigold both homered as Libby crushed Great Falls Central 11-1 in first-round action at the Class B-C state softball tournament.
Libby scored in every inning but the fifth and outhit Central 12-2.
Monigold, 3 for 4, and Ennenga, 1 for 3, had two RBIs each.
Hageness had two hits, along with Alyssa Marshall.
Ennenga homered in the third with two runners on to left field.
Monigold, on the second pitch of the game, homered to left field.
Hageness fanned three batters and walked one.
Libby (21-6) faces Huntley Project today at 10 a.m. That winner will play the St. Ignatius/Florence winner at 4 p.m. St. Ignatius and Florence play today at 10 a.m.
Huntley Project slipped by Loyola Sacred Heart 3-2 in eight innings.

SIDNEY — It was a so-so day for Polson at the state tournament.
The Pirates opened with an impressive 9-1 victory over Lewistown before falling to Hamilton in the next round 2-1.
It was the third one-run verdict in the series between Polson and Hamilton this spring. Each school had won once previously.
Columbia Falls emerged with a wild 10-9 victory over Harve in eight innings in the first round.
Columbia Falls faced Miles City in the second round, but no results were available from that late start.
