Carroll rallies past Western

HELENA — Carroll outscored Montana Western 14-2 in the second half to hold off the Bulldogs 24-15 in a Frontier Conference football game on Saturday at Nelson Stadium.

A 25-yard touchdown pass from Reese Hiibel to Shane Sipes put the Saints up for good and they capped the win with a 13-yard Eric Dawson touchdown.

Saints senior kick Dylan Torgerson (Flathead) had a 35-yard field goal in the win and punted four times. Brian FauntLeRoy (Whitefish) had one tackle.

Western senior George Sherwood (Flathead) had one catch for six yards and four punts, downing three inside the Saints’ 20.

No. 7 S. Oregon 38,

MSU-Northern 17

HAVRE — Southern Oregon ran out to a 31-0 halftime lead in a blowout win over MSU-Northern.

Tanner Trosin had 276 passing yards and Rey Vega 173 rushing yards in the Raiders win.

Northern freshman Joe Fehr (Eureka) had three tackles in the loss.

College of Idaho 64,

No. 17 Montana Tech 35

CALDWELL, Idaho — Montana Tech held an early lead but couldn’t stop College of Idaho, who had 641 yards of offense in the upset win.

Tech was playing without starting quarterback Quinn McQueary and leading rusher Jed Fike missed most of the game, but it was the defense that struggled most, giving up 388 yards rushing.

Yotes freshman Nick Calzaretta ran for 162 yards and five touchdowns in a game that saw College of Idaho run for nine touchdowns.

Reid Siderius (Glacier) had four tackles for Tech, Tucker Rauthe (Glacier) had three, Ike Schweikert (Columbia Falls) had two and Will Davey (Polson) and Cam Nissen (Bigfork) each had one.

Eastern Oregon 21,

Rocky Mountain 17

BILLINGS — Eastern Oregon quarterback Kai Quinn found Brenden Kelly for a 17-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to lift the Mountaineers to a victory over Rocky Mountain.

Quinn had 203 yards passing and two touchdowns in the win.

Jared Gallatin (Polson) had two tackles and an interception for the Bears.
