This weekend the speech and debate teams from Glacier and Flathead High Schools snagged two of the top three team scores at the Hawker Invitational in Bozeman that drew teams from across the state.

Bozeman had the highest team score with 246, followed by Glacier with 137.5 and Flathead with 113.5. Columbia Falls, a perennial speech and debate powerhouse, took seventh in the meet with 37.5 points but was the top finisher outside of AA schools.

“We just didn’t have balance or depth this weekend,” said Greg Adkins, head coach of the Glacier High School team. “We’ve got to get much better to catch Bozeman.”

Competitors from Glacier won several events, including Legislative Debate, Duo Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation and Programmed Oral Interpretation. A Flathead competitor took first in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
