Janet Spencer Franklin, age 73, passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2017, with her family by her side. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Born March 2, 1944, in Oakland, California, to Allan Thomas Spencer II and Elizabeth Spencer, Janet joined her older brother Allan Thomas Spencer III. She spent her childhood years in Gerber and Red Bluff, California, where she graduated high school and earned a degree and teaching certificate from Chico State University.

She met the love of her life, Wayne Franklin, at a ski club and they were married on Aug. 28, 1971. They enjoyed 49 wonderful years together and their two daughters Kathryn Hilary and Elizabeth Anne cherish the years they had with their wonderful mother. Jan and her family spent much of their years together in Los Altos, California, where she was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher and devoted wife to Wayne and mother to her girls. The family relocated to Kalispell in 2007 and she loved her time under the Big Sky. Since coming to Montana, Jan embedded herself in the community and leaves behind numerous beloved friends.

Jan’s faith in Jesus Christ was paramount in her life and she was a true prayer warrior and loving friend. Jan always put the needs of others first and her family takes solace that she’s with her Heavenly Father. Jan is survived by her husband Wayne, and daughters Kathryn and Elizabeth (Walter). She leaves behind her brother, Allan Thomas Spencer III (Hilary), nephew, Allan Thomas Spencer IV (Lisa) and their daughters Charlotte and Stella. On the Franklin side of the family, Jan leaves behind her brother in law, Kent Franklin (Marian), daughter, Barbara Jorgensen (Dan) and their daughters Anna and Alex.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Kalispell Regional Medical Center for taking such excellent care of Jan in her time of need. A private family burial has occurred and a memorial service is planned for a later date to be announced.
