Joyce Elaine Steele, 91
Joyce Elaine Steele, 91, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, peacefully passed away on Nov. 14, 2017.
The “Lord called Joyce home to join the love of her life,” her amazing husband of 63 years, Homer Lyle Steele, who passed away on July 11, 2010.
Joyce was born March 12, 1926, in Wolfpoint to Ione and William Wilkinson.
She married her high school sweetheart, a very handsome football star, Homer Steele, on April 23, 1949. They lived happily in the house Homer built in Columbia Heights. He worked building Hungry Horse Dam, then for Columbia Falls Aluminum Company for 36 years. Joyce was able to stay home, raising their four children, Kim, Cheryl, Shane and Shawn.
The family made wonderful memories taking fun trips every year, also boating, waterskiing and camping. They enjoyed snow skiing on Big Mountain during the winter.
Joyce and Homer were married again in the Cardston, Alberta, Temple as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had the most wonderful life together!
After Homer retired, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home to Arizona and California.
Joyce was a very loving, friendly, redhead with a cute sense of humor. She dearly loved her family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her children, Kim W. Steele, Cheryl D. Sands and husband Mike, Shane L. Steele and wife Kim, and Shawn D. Steele and wife Debbie; and her sister, Barbara Hentges. She was blessed with 11grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, Angela Schoonober, husband Chris, and children Brenton and Breanna, Tina Sands and son Brandon, Michael Sands, wife Dina, and children Megan, Marissa and Shawn, Shane Steele, wife Sonya, and children Shelby and Zach, Kasey Steele, wife Jennifer, and children Drew and Jax, Andy Steele, wife Dawn, and son David, Kyle Peterson, Jeremy Steele, wife Naomi, and children Kirsten and Andon, Jamie Griffith, husband Ryan, and children Colin and Sierra, Kandis Duff, husband Dan, and children Joey and Berkley, and Kelsey Steele and fiance Nikolas Davis.
“We love you dearly, Mom. We will miss you every day! May Dad hold you in his loving arms for all eternity.”
Funeral services for Joyce will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Columbia Falls. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. in the Relief Society Room. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. A reception will follow at the LDS Church.
