A pedestrian attempting to cross a busy highway in Evergreen was sent to the hospital Tuesday after he was hit by a vehicle.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of Cottonwood Drive and U.S. 2 at 1 p.m.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a Kalispell man was attempting to cross the highway when a vehicle in the southbound inside lane slowed to let the man cross. According to trooper Jerry Ren, that vehicle blocked the view for another vehicle in the outside lane, which hit the pedestrian.

“The pedestrian darted out and was struck,” Ren explained.

He said that since there is no crosswalk at the location, the pedestrian was at fault.

The man was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center in stable condition. The incident remains under investigation.
