Buyer's remorse abounds after faulty heater purchase

A man purchased a heating unit that he thought was brand new, but it reportedly did not function when he tried to install it. He told the Kalispell Police Department that he purchased the unit from three traveling salesmen for $400 and felt he had been scammed. The caller provided a business card from the salesman and was encouraged to contact the company with his complaint.

A caller reportedly found a 5-year-old girl wearing a purple shirt and jeans who was lost, but said she lived in a white house. The mother of the child later reported her daughter was missing. The child’s brother had come to pick her up, but she was not there. The child was reunited with her mother.

A female reported her watch accidentally dialed 911. She said she was fine and had just been “jamming” to Faith Hill.

Someone reportedly opened an individual’s screen door and front door. The resident called out to the person, who then left. Shortly afterwards, however, the resident reported that a friend’s dog started barking and the car alarm went off. Law enforcement responded to the residence but did not find anything suspicious.

A man who had reportedly been drinking was allegedly breaking things inside his residence. The caller and two juveniles stayed inside a bedroom. Law enforcement responded to the scene and separated the two parties.

An individual reported hearing noises and voices coming from an alley. Motion lights were reportedly turning on and off, and dogs in the backyard were “going nuts.” The caller reported hearing a voice say, “open the door.” An officer drove by the residence and observed that everything was shut down for the night and the only noise was a dog barking.

A dog wearing a purple sweater was reportedly found wandering in a man’s yard. The man said the dog was very skittish. The owner was contacted and retrieved the dog.

A woman contacted the Whitefish Police Department to report her Hyundai Sonata had been stolen the night before. Law enforcement reviewed footage from a local parking garage which reportedly showed the woman driving the vehicle out of the garage at 1:28 a.m. An officer advised the caller of their observations and reported the incident was an alcohol-induced misplaced vehicle, not a theft.

An individual called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a motorhome allegedly parked in an intersection on 10th Street West which made it difficult to see. The caller said they wanted the vehicle moved.

A German Shepherd was reportedly tied to a tree with no food or water near it. The dog appeared to be in distress and had allegedly been tied to the tree for at least three days. Law enforcement made contact with an individual at the residence where the dog was tied up. They said they found the dog at a local gas station and were trying to locate the owner. The dog had only been tied up for a couple of hours, they said. The dog was transported to an animal shelter.
