Caroline T. Hooper, 92
Caroline passed away peacefully Sept. 18, 2017.
Caroline T. Hooper was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, on Dec. 20, 1924. Her father was Harry E. Taylor and mother was Silvia Kliskey. Caroline had two younger sisters, Silvia who is deceased and Harriet who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. When Caroline was 3 years old the family moved to North Braddock, Pennsylvania. Caroline started grade school but was too smart for first grade and was moved to second grade. Fortunately for Bob Hooper, he was in that grade and room.
Thus began the Hoopers. Caroline was very smart with numbers and also played the violin, which her uncle had made for her. Robert and Caroline continued on together through high school — Carrie playing the violin and Robert the tuba in the high school orchestra. Graduation came and Caroline went to the University of Pittsburgh in 1942. Robert was off to the Navy.
They were married while Robert was home on leave June 23, 1943.
Caroline graduated in 1945 in business and education. She wrote letters to Robert every day of World War II.
Caroline taught school in Pennsylvania and Wilton Manor, Florida, where they moved after the war. They moved to Kalispell in 1974 to help their son Bob and Cheri in the nursery business. Caroline was the secretary and bookkeeper.
A celebration of Caroline’s life will be held sometime in November.
The family wishes to thank hospice for all their love and care.
