Prep Soccer Glacier, Flathead boys net victories in Helena

HELENA — Helena found the net first, with Sam Kopp scoring 20 minutes into play, but Glacier bounced back with three goals for a 3-1 Western AA boys soccer victory on Friday.

Kamren Barkus tied it for Glacier at 36 minutes with a goal and Conner Heil scored three minutes later to put the Wolfpack on top 2-1 at the half.

Glacier’s Rohit Tappeta completed the scoring with a goal at 75 minutes.

Glacier (7-1-3 overall, 5-1-3 conference) plays Helena Capital today.

Glacier’s busy week started at Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday with a 5-2 win.

Glacier and Helena tied earlier in the year 4-4.

“We continue to learn from each game,” Glacier coach Ryan Billiet said.

“Continue to get better, more confident.

“Our midfield play is patient, we’re breaking teams down and that’s generating a lot of goal scoring opportunities for us,” he continued.

“And we are able to finish those this year.

“This was was their best game of the season,” he added.

“I am excited for them to match, or exceed that, tomorrow.”

LIBBY — Four goals by August Emonde was more than enough to carry Columbia Falls past Libby in a Northern A contest.

Seth Hoffman and Alex Garate had the other goals.

Columbia Falls had 38 shots on goal to Libby’s 2.

Corner kicks heavily favored the victors 14-1.

Columbia Falls moves on to postseason action next weekend.
