| October 11, 2017 6:21 PM

George Edward Gahr, 87, passed away Sept. 8, 2017, at home from complications due to Parkinson’s.

George was born to Ethel Potter Gahr and Louis Gahr, joining brother Gerald. Six years later sister Joan completed the family. Raised in Hilbre, Manitoba, George spoke often of harsh winters and many adventures. His lifelong loves were hockey, baseball and music.

At 25, all the family moved to Crookston, Minnesota, then in 1965 to Kalispell where he worked in the woods.

In 1970 he met and married Margaret Pilsch and together raised four children. His faith in Christ and love for family was the defining thing in his life. He enjoyed songwriting and had a wonderful sense of humor.

George and Peggy moved to Joplin, Missouri, in 2005.

He is survived by wife Peggy, stepson Shane Parker, two stepdaughters Tommie Lewis and Nanette Parker, and son Elton; sister, Joan Johnson; 15 grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Living Water Foursquare in Kalispell. A potluck will follow.
