X-Country Bigfork girls win 4th Western B title in a row

THOMPSON FALLS — The Bigfork girls took three of the top four spots to win the Western B divisional cross country meet on Thursday, taking the team title for the fourth straight year.
Valkyries senior Bryn Morley, 18 minutes, 8.36 seconds, was the individual winner for the fourth time with junior teammate Anya Young, 19:55.72, finishing second for the third time. Vals junior Alica Kalenak finished in fourth to lead a near sweep atop the podium. Shae Anderson was 12th and Haile Norred 13th.
Eureka’s Mckay Guckenberg placed third and Brooke Price was fifth as the Lions took second place.
The Eureka boys won the team title, led by sophomore Alex Lowe, who finished in second place in 17:48.08. Garrett Bates placed fourth and Hunter Steel sixth as the Lions ran past Anaconda’s tightly bunched group for the title.
Bigfork’s Troy Saari finished in fifth place and Anton Young in eighth as the Vikings tied for fourth as a team.
