The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host a meeting followed by a luncheon on Oct. 17 to discuss the acceleration of investment in the downtown core area now that plans for the removal of the railroad tracks are in place.

Tracy Huggins, executive director for the Denver Urban Renewal Authority, will lead a group discussion comprised of city of Kalispell representatives, Montana West Economic Development, downtown property owners, civic growth associations and the development community.

Huggins will speak on her experience of the redevelopment of the lower downtown area of Denver in the 1990s and 2000s in hopes of promoting investment and planning for the development of Kalispell’s downtown.

The discussion will address the challenges, successes and steps the community will have to take to promote investment in jobs and growth as the core area transforms in the coming years.

The group meeting is scheduled for Oct. 17 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at WGM Group, 431 1st Ave West. The luncheon will follow at noon at the Red Lion Hotel.
