Elizabeth Jean 'Betty' Betty Meredith, 90
Betty Meredith, a lifelong resident of Anaconda, was born on June 6, 1927, and passed away on Oct. 14, 2017. She will be greatly missed by her many friends in the Anaconda community as well as her numerous family members. Betty graduated from Anaconda High School in 1945, where she was editor of the school yearbook and newspaper and was very active in many school activities.
Soon after graduation from high school, like many of her generation, she married at a young age. She and Robert Leroy “Bob” Meredith filled their home over the years with five active and healthy children. Attending the numerous activities their children were involved in, both Betty and Bob seldom missed a sporting activity.
Betty loved to play bridge and, with Bob, was active in the local and state square dancing scene. Betty was a lifelong member of the Anaconda Catholic community, past president of the Anaconda Garden Club, was a 4-H leader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, painting and crocheting. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved collecting and receiving gifts from Ireland.
Overall, Betty’s greatest joy was spending time in the company of her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1980, and her parents James and Julia Fitzpatrick.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Bob and Sue Meredith of Anaconda, Jim and Karan Meredith of Spokane, Brenda and Randy Dorrington of Kalispell, Dave and Cathy Meredith of Kalispell, and Carolyn and Wayne Boese of Spokane. Betty was proud of her 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct.19, at the Holy Family Church in Anaconda. Interment will occur after the service at Mount Olivet Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Holy Family Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda, 615 Main Street, Anaconda, Mt., would be appreciated.
