Helena schools sweep Glacier, Flathead
HELENA — Glacier and Flathead couldn’t get over the top, each losing a pair of four-set matches while getting swept by the Helena schools on Thursday in Class AA volleyball action.
Glacier won its opening set 25-20 against Helena High, but lost a pair of extra point sets to close the match. The Wolfpack lost 27-25, 25-22, 27-25 down the stretch to drop its second-straight match to the Bengals.
Capital dominated its first set against Glacier later in the day, 25-16, before winning a close second 26-24. Glacier won its first close set of the day, 25-23 in the third, but the Bruins took the fourth 25-23 to complete the sweep.
Kali Gulick led Glacier with 17 kills and seven blocks in the loss to Helena, and Aubrie Rademacher had 13 kills against Capital.
Flathead traded sets with Capital in its opening match, each winning 25-17. The Bruins pulled away in the final sets thanks to Flathead errors, winning 25-16, 25-18 in the third and fourth.
The Bravettes won their first set against Helena High 25-18, but slipped up in the second set 25-13. The Bengals edged out a 26-24 win in the third and a 25-22 win in the fourth to complete the sweep.
Julia Burden had 11 kills against Capital and 21 against Helena and Sierra Wilhelm had 31 digs in the two matches for the Bravettes.
Glacier will play next against Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday and Flathead is off until crosstown next Thursday.
