Jerry Lou Sommers, 81

Jerry Lou Sommers died on Oct. 14, 2017, in Salmon, Idaho.

He was born the 25th of April 1936 in Somers.

Jerry married Janice McClay on Dec. 28, 1958, in Somers.

Jerry is survived by wife, Janice; his sons, Randy (Lyrae), David (Katrina), Dean (Jodi), Brent (Sarah), and Jason (Stephanie); his daughters, Cindy Lee (Blaine), Margaret Leonard, Cheryl Flower (Thomas), Julie Bickmore (Allen), and Anita Denney (Jared); 32 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; his brother Roy (Betty); and his sisters, Verda Leberman, Anna Horner (Marvin), and Edna Babcock.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Frank Sommers and his mother Florence Curtis Sommers; and his grandson, Brenden Lee.

Jerry served in the Navy from 1954 to 1958 and graduated from DeVry Tech. He lived in many states, including 19 years in Alaska, 23 years in Montana and 14 years in Idaho.

Jerry was a social, active man and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed playing games with his family, fishing and traveling. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, caring person and a bit of a prankster.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 21 at 400 S. Daisy St., Salmon. All are welcome to attend.

The family would like to thank everyone who has offered prayers, food, cards and loving concern for the family.
