Prep Football McPhee, Green power C-Falls past Polson

COLUMBIA FALLS — Colten McPhee had touchdown runs of 15, 36 and 4 yards and quarterback Austin Green ran 4 yards for a score and passed for three more as Columbia Falls manhandled Polson 50-6 in the Northwest A conference regular-season final for both football teams.

McPhee rushed for 159 yards on 10 carries to lead a potent Wildcats offense.

Green, who as 6 of 10 passing for 111 yards, hit Ben Windauer on scoring strikes of 15 and 30 yards and Drew Morgan on a 27-yard touchdown toss.

Auguste Emond, who was five of seven on PAT kicks, completed the scoring with a 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Windauer had four receptions for 75 yards and Morgan three for 62.

Columbia Falls (6-1 overall, 5-0 league) will have a first-round bye in the upcoming Class A playoffs, which begin next weekend.

Polson (2-6, 2-3) scored in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard pass from Bo Kelley to Haden Smith.

Browning 42, Ronan 16

BROWNING — James Gilham returned a kick 75 yards for a touchdown and caught a pair of scoring passes to guide Browning past Ronan in a Northwest A conference game.

It was the regular-season finale for both schools.

Browning (5-4, 4-1) will be seeded second from the Northwest for the upcoming playoffs. It’s the first postseason appearance for Browning in 28 years.

Browning led Ronan (2-6, 2-3) 30-8 at the half.

BIGFORK — Randy Stultz rushed for 151 yards and five touchdowns as Bigfork blasted Deer Lodge in Western B division play.

Stultz had touchdown runs of 6, 6, 7, 1 and 4 yards.

Quarterback Augie Emslie hit Logan Taylor for a 9-yard touchdown pass to complete the Vikings scoring.

Stultz had 21 carries in the game and averaged 7.2 yards per attempt. He also had two receptions for 26 yards.

Bigfork (6-1, 4-1) had 353 yards in total offense to 94 for Deer Lodge (0-8, 0-6).

Emslie was 11 of 25 passing for 107 yards.

Luke Taylor added 57 yards rushing on five carries.

Bigfork will be the third seed from the division for the playoffs will play Shelby, the second seed from the Northern, next week in the first round of the playoffs. The Vikings beat the Coyotes 23-19 in Week 1 of the regular season.

It was the final game of the regular season for Libby (2-7, 1-4) and Whitefish (1-7, 1-4).
