Cougars claw past Troy; Eureka sweeps Mission

Stillwater Christian rallied past Troy in the fifth set to edge the Trojans 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 16-14 in a nonconference volleyball match on Saturday.

Helen Hashley had 14 kills and Selah Neumann had 12 kills for the Cougars, who rolled through the first two sets before needing to win a tight fifth set to close out the win.

Ramey Metzger had 33 assists and five aces for the Cougars and Cora Boll had 48 digs for Stillwater.

Allie Coldwell had 13 kills and a block for Troy and Annie Day had 30 assists and 11 digs.

“A win is always a good way to finish off the regular season,” Stillwater coach Diane Smith said in an email. “We look forward to a few good days of practice this next week. Find some more focus. Work on areas of weakness and continue to build teamness.”

EUREKA — Eureka got off to a slow start, but when it got going, steamrolled Mission in three sets 25-19, 25-10, 25-8.

Kassi Peterson had 11 kills and eight digs and Erynn Thier had a block and five aces to lead Eureka.
