Evelyn Blanche “Levy” Johnson, 87

| October 24, 2017 6:20 PM

Levy was born and raised in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming with her parents Archie and Nadene Wilson and her brother Jack.

Cancer ended her life on Oct. 20, 2017, in the beautiful mountain community of Whitefish, at the age of 87.

Levy attended school in Sheridan, Wyoming, and graduated from Carroll College in Helena and St. Vincent Hospital in Billings as a registered nurse. Levy met Jess Johnson at Carroll College and, three years later when she was working as a surgical nurse in Tuscan, Arizona, she saw him again as he was attending pharmacy school. She then married William J. Johnson, the love of her life. They bought a pharmacy in Hardin in 1960 where they raised their four children. After 30 years, they retired and moved to Whitefish where Jess was a relief pharmacist and Levy became very involved in community/volunteer work. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Soroptimist International, and Stich & Bitch Knitting Club.

Levy loved bridge, raising beautiful flowers and was a loving mother and wife. Summers brought all the children and grandchildren to Whitefish where many cherished times were shared.

Jess and Levy were married 64 years and were constant and loving companions. They were surrounded by many very close friends.

Levy was a caring and compassionate person. She blessed us with many words of wisdom in her ways of teaching us. She was a great storyteller and we learned to play many games together as a family.

Levy was preceded in death by her parents, brother and grandson.

She is survived by her husband William “Jess”; her children, Scott and Vicki Johnson, Kim Johnson, Kristi Wagner and Tempe Lalonde; grandchildren include Ali and Abbey, Drew and Tyler, and Jack and Presley; and two great-granddaughters, Evie and Hazel.

A memorial service will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice, or the Whitefish Library or the American Cancer Society.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
