Stillwater spikers start state action with two wins
Stillwater Christian School, hosts for the Montana Christian Athletic Association state volleyball tournament, posted two victories during Thursday’s opening-day session.
The Cougars defeated Billings Christian in the opener, 16-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21, and followed with an 18-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 triumph over Yellowstone County Home School.
Ramey Metzger had a strong all-around game for Stillwater against Billings with team highs in aces (six), assists (33) and digs (18).
Helen Hashley had the big numbers for Stillwater against Yellowstone with 12 kills, three aces and 13 digs.
Selah Newmann had a team-high 14 kills in the second match for Stillwater.
Sydney Mckerrow also had three aces for Stillwater in that match and Cora Boll led in digs with 24.
Stillwater plays Foothills Community Christian School at 6 tonight. Foothills advanced with Thursday victories over Flathead Valley Home School and Helena Christian School.
