Stillwater in MCAA state soccer final with Heritage
Zac King put Stillwater Christian on top early with an unassisted goal and later assisted on two scores by David Rodriguez as the Cougars defeated Billings Christian School 4-0 on Friday at the Montana Christian Athletic Association state boys soccer tournament at Stillwater Christian School.
Jonny Warricks had the other Stillwater goal.
Stillwater opened tournament play on Thursday by slipping past this same Billings Christian squad, 2-1.
“We felt like we didn’t play our very best on Thursday,” Stillwater coach Ryan O’Rourke said.
“We made a few tactical adjustments, the guys settled in well and had a great game.”
Stillwater outshot Billings 20-2 on goal and led in corner kicks 6-0.
Colton Johnson had two keeper saves for Stillwater.
The Cougars will play two-time defending state champion Heritage Christian School today at noon in the championship match. Heritage beat Stillwater in last year’s final, 2-1.
