Kalispell Chamber banquet features downtown theme
The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce will hold its 113th annual banquet and auction from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell. The theme, “Downtown through the decades, is meant to celebrate the historic opportunity Kalispell has to develop its downtown area via the core area plan that will remove the railroad tracks from the downtown corridor.
Proceeds of the auction will benefit the Kalispell Chamber Foundation, the Chamber’s nonprofit affiliate, which will use the money on initiatives that include downtown development, growing Kalispell as a regional trade center, building on infrastructure momentum, accelerating non-resident tourism growth and strengthening manufacturing and innovation.
The Chamber also is hosting a firearm raffle to raise money for its 2018 actions and initiatives. PROOF Research, Defiance Machine and U.S. Optics have joined in on creating a $9,000 TAC II rifle that will be raffled. It’s a 6.5 Creedmoor, right-hand with 22-inch carbon fiber barrel, detachable type magazine and custom paint finish. Tickets for the rifle are $10 each, or $20 for three chances to win. Purchase tickets through the Kalispell Chamber, 15 Depot Park in Kalispell. Winner need not be present to win.
Other prizes include a Green Mountain grill, Jim Bowie Edition courtesy of Big Johns ($799 value); and a diamond jewelry set with custom Glacier National Park bracelet, courtesy of Riddle’s Jewelry and Wheeler Jewelry ($628 value).
New this year will be a post-party at the Blue Canyon following the conclusion of the banquet, with entertainment by the Mike Murray Duo.

‘Eat and Educate’ session Oct. 31 in Columbia Falls
Hagadone Digital, the Daily Inter Lake and the Hungry Horse News will kick off the Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce’s new “Eat and Educate with the Chamber” lunch trainings with an innovative training on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The session will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the North Valley Hospital Teakettle Room, 246 Nucleus Ave. in Columbia Falls. The theme will be “Using the rest of the Internet to grow your business in 2017.”
The event is free to Columbia Falls Chamber members; $10 for non-members. Wear a costume and be entered into a drawing for a door prize. For more information go to Columbia Falls Chamber website.
Government contracting explained in workshops
Robert Much, a procurement specialist with the Native American Development Corp., will conduct a Government Contracting 101 workshop on 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes IT computer training room in the lower level of the Old Tribal Complex in Pablo. It will cover the basics of government contracting and online certifications needed to do business with the government. Following the training, Much will also be available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 for government contracting counseling assistance.
Also on Nov. 15, Much will conduct a Government Contracting 102 workshop from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the same training room in Pablo. It will cover the 8(a) Business Development certification program and the HUBZone contracting certification program that are designed to help small businesses get preferences in government contracting.
