Montana State Parks will be closing Flathead Lake State Park-Finley Point for the season on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The park will close early to begin construction on a campground improvement project.

The park improvements will provide more open space around motor home campsites and add a new campsite loop. Five walk-in, tent-only camping sites will be added as well as two yurts to further expand the variety of camping availability. The park entrance will be widened to allow safer, easier access for motor homes and trailers. The park’s seasonal camp host facilities will move north of the park entry road. Camp host volunteers stay on site at a state park during the summer to assist visitors. New landscaping and vegetative cover is also planned between campsites to add privacy and visual appeal.

The park will reopen in the spring.

Finley Point State Park located just north of Polson is one of seven state parks with access to Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. In addition to boating, swimming and fishing, the park offers camping and picnicking.
