Store has beef with attempted burglar

A man reportedly attempted to flee a grocery store with a 12 pack of “Twisted Tea” and about $100 worth of steak, all unpaid for, according to Columbia Falls Police. The man also reportedly threw a bottle of steak sauce into a vehicle, which then proceeded to also try to drive away. The man was cited for theft.

A pastor reported finding a shopping cart with several personal items, including a pair of scissors, binoculars and a rifle scope, abandoned near a church. The pastor said he was having a hard time keeping the neighborhood kids out of the cart.

Drug paraphernalia was reportedly found on a playground on Fourth Street West.

A resident of Seventh Street West reported hearing noise outside, and when he went to check where the noise was coming from, he allegedly found a window to his house open. The man said he saw his neighbor’s boyfriend outside throwing a Frisbee at the house but had no evidence he had opened the window. Officers responded but reported, “This is just a Frisbee.”

According to Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, a Good Samaritan reportedly found an injured cat that had been struck by a car on Rose Crossing and took it to an emergency vet clinic. Following treatment the cat was taken to the county animal shelter.

A resident of Rogers Lake Road allegedly found a part of his electric fence had been taken down, allowing cows and horses to escape. The man suspected his neighbors and described his relationship with the suspects as “intense.”

A witness reported seeing a couple’s argument get violent when the female half allegedly got a hammer and began hitting the male’s vehicle.

A man reportedly found a brown and white chihuahua running loose in a parking lot. After capturing the dog, the man reportedly had to get to work. He said he rolled the windows down on his vehicle and left a bowl of water for the stray dog in his vehicle until he could get away to take it to the county shelter.

A female yellow lab was reportedly found near Happy Hollow and taken to the county shelter.

Someone reportedly burglarized a fast food restaurant on U.S. 2. An employee of the restaurant reportedly walked in to find the front door ajar and all the registers “knocked over.”

A resident of Kootenai River Road told the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office he was bitten by a neighbor’s dog. The bite allegedly required him to go to the emergency room. Upon returning home, the man reported that the dog attacked him again.

Someone reported seeing a flare being shot from one side of a river to another near Rainy Creek.
