Holter passes for 2 TDs, runs for 3 as Maroons maul Dogs Whitefish

BUTTE — Cade Holter passed for two touchdowns and ran for three more as Butte Central (2-0) clobbered Whitefish 49-7 in Class A football play Friday night.

Holter had TD passes of 21 and 20 yards to Clay Fisher and Thomas McGee, respectively.

McGee also returned an interception 64 yards for a score.

Holter’s scoring runs were from 6, 20 and 35 yards.

Ryan Moodry, who was perfect on seven PAT kicks, scored Central’s final touchdown on a 5-yard run.

Forrest Kolbet, 14 rushes for 64 yards, had a 5-yard touchdown run for Whitefish (0-3).

Butte Central put the game away with a 35-point second quarter for a 49-0 lead at intermission.

Whitefish hosts Corvalls on Friday.

Dillon 16, Columbia Falls 14

DILLON — A missed field goal by Columbia Falls with four seconds to play allowed Dillon (2-0) to dodge Columbia Falls (1-1) in a Class A matchup.

Dillon scored the final nine points on a 6-yard pass from Coby King to Brent Tezak and a 21-yard field goal by Gabe Kirkley with 1:02 left in the fourth quarter.

Austin Green had a 2-yard touchdown run and passed 4 yards to Ben Windauer for another Columbia Falls score.

Columbia Falls hosts Stevensville on Friday.

STEVENSVILLE — Friday night’s Class A contest has been postponed until Monday at 7 p.m. because of wildfire air quality issues.

Friday night’s Western B game has been postponed until today because of wildfire air quality issues.

The game is tentatively set for 1 p.m..

It air quality remains an issue today, the Montana High School Association will allow the game to be played Sunday at 1 p.m. in Eureka.

at Florence (1-1)

Today’s Western B game will be played at 7 p.m., instead of 5 p.m.

If air quality issues persist, the contest will be moved to Butte’s Naranche Stadium with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Frenchtown (2-0)

vs. Libby (1-1)

Friday’s night’s Western B game, originally scheduled for Libby, was tentatively moved to Frenchtown with a 7 p.m. start because of unhealthy air. On Friday, the game was rescheduled for 2 p.m. today and will now be played in Fairfield.

at Corvallis (2-0)

Friday night’s Class A nonconference game has been rescheduled for today at 4 p.m. If air quality issues remain, the game will be moved to Butte with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
