Bigfork's Young, Whitefish girls 1st in cross country

THOMPSON FALLS — Bigfork’s Anya Young took individual honors while the team title went to Whitefish in girls action at the Thompson Falls Invitational cross country meet on Thursday.
Young was the lone finisher under 20 minutes with a time of 19:58.83.
Lara Erickson of Columbia Falls was second, 20:54.98.
Whitefish’s Jessica Henson, Ella Greenberg and Katie Arterburn placed seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
Whitefish had a winning total of 47. Frenchtown, 55, was second.
Frenchtown, led by the 1-2 finish of Brock Rugg, 17:02.67, and Tyler Schmautz, 17:06.34, topped the boys field with a 41 team score.
Columbia Falls, 61, was second and Eureka, 87, third.
Gabe Knutson of Columbia Falls had the third-best time, 17:31.67.
