Prep Football Lions blast Anaconda; C-Falls rumbles by Libby

EUREKA — Garrett Graves ran for three touchdowns and passed to Garrett Gollahon for two more as Eureka annihilated Anaconda 49-7 Friday night in Western B division football action.

Graves, who had seven carries for 59 yards, had scoring runs of 3, 14 and 1 yard. He connected with Gollahon on TD passes for 13 and 8 yards.

Chet McCully, seven carries for 134 yards, had a 70-yard TD run and Brenton Pluid added a 20-yard scoring scamper in the fourth quarter.

Simon Granberg was perfect on all seven PAT kicks for the Lions.

Anaconda took a brief, and early lead, with 9:27 to play in the opening quarter, but it was all Eureka after that.

“They had a nice drive. Their run game was working,” Eureka coach Trevor Utter said of Anaconda’s first score.

“We responded well being down 7-0. We hadn’t been down 7-0 all year.”

Graves was 8 of 12 passing for 87 yards. Gollahon finished with three receptions for 33 yards.

Eureka (4-0 overall) had 360 yards of total offense to 152 for Anaconda.

Anaconda averaged 2.6 yards per play while Eureka averaged 10 yards per play on just 36 plays.

“We were very efficient (on offense),” Utter said.

Eureka plays at Missoula Loyola next Friday.

Columbia Falls 54, Libby 0

LIBBY — Columbia Falls had no trouble bouncing back from a heart-wrenching loss to defending state champion Dillon in its last game.

The Wildcats wasted no time jumping out to a lead on its way to pounding Libby on Friday night.

Austin Green tossed two touchdowns in the first quarter, another in the second and ran for yet another to stake the Wildcats to a 33-0 halftime lead.

Colten McPhee rushed for two touchdowns for Columbia Falls.

Libby travels to Polson at 7 p.m. next Friday, while Columbia Falls hosts Browning at 7 p.m. next Friday for homecoming.

TROY — Troy Mitchell threw four touchdown passes and returned a kickoff 70 yards for another score as St. Ignatius trounced Troy.

Gus Bosby also ran for three touchdowns for St. Ignatius.

Tyler Gromley had touchdown runs of 1 and 5 yards and passed 60 yards to Hunter Leighty for another score for Troy.

Troy plays at Seeley-Swan on Monday.
