Charles Wesley “Chuck” Stipe, 80, passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2017, at Community Hospital from complications of pneumonia, with family at his bedside.

Chuck was born to Paul B. Stipe and Bonnie Coleman Stipe on Feb. 24, 1937, in Missoula. He grew up on the sand hills of Moiese, the only brother to eight sisters.

Chuck made his choice to serve God at our religious convention near Ronan at age 13 and had the privilege of having a Sunday fellowship meeting in his home for 50 years.

On March 14, 1959, he married the love of his life, Doris Hagbom, and they settled in Three Forks. In 1960 the couple moved back to Moiese where they built their home and raised their four children, Vern, Sharon, Marv and Doug.

Chuck was active on the Charlo School board, Soil Conservation District and the Flathead Joint Board of Control for many years. He served on the Charolais Association board of directors and was a part of the Montana Charolais Association.

Chuck put his heart and lifetime into breeding Charolais cattle and received honors and accolades for his efforts, including several from the National Western Stock Show. Chuck was an icon and leader to the industry, family and friends.

Chuck’s faith, wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Corrine Kamp, Alma Davison and Alice Trevithick; and grandson, Jeritt Leen.

He is survived by wife, Doris; sisters, Leola Taylor, Esther Davison, Mary Douma, Laura Dykstra and Barbara Bales; children, Vern (Barbie) Stipe, Sharon (Hayden) Leen, Marv (Breezy) Stipe, and Doug (Kim) Stipe; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
