Sentinel spikers spill Glacier in ranked tilt

MISSOULA — Glacier couldn’t overcome a strong attack from second-ranked Missoula Sentinel, losing in three sets 25-15, 25-13, 25-18 on Tuesday in a Western AA conference match.

The defending champs were powered by the Schweyen sisters, with Shelby scoring nine kills and two blocks and Jordyn setting up 39 assists. Elsa Godwin had a match-high 13 kills and two aces.

Glacier senior Anna Schrade had eight kills and five digs to lead the Wolfpack.

The Wolfpack, ranked fourth, hosts Flathead in a crosstown match on Thursday.

EUREKA — Libby overpowered Eureka in a nonconference clash of undefeated squads 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 25-17.

Mehki Sykes had 18 kills and two aces and Emily Mossburg chipped in six blocks for the Loggers, who move to 9-0 overall.

Cassie Peterson and Sienna Utter each had 10 kills for Eureka (6-1).

“It was a good battle,” Eureka coach Charlie Chapman said. “Their blocking game is big and tough. Both teams played great defense.”

WHITEFISH — Cailyn Ross had 12 kills and Marlee Bender 11 as Whitefish defeated Columbia Falls 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17 in a Northwest A match.

Serena Hemmingson led the Bulldogs (4-2 league) in digs with 24 and aces with six.

Trista Cowan had 13 kills for Columbia Falls.

Bigfork stormed back from a close loss in the first set to slip by Stillwater Christian 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19 in nonconference play at Stillwater.

Jaime Berg had six of 17 aces for Bigfork (5-2 overall). Selah Neumann led in kills (five) and blocks (four) for Stillwater (4-4).
