Volleyball Whitefish girls blow by Browning; Troy bumps Bonners Ferry

WHITEFISH — Cailyn Ross had 18 kills and three blocks, both team highs, as Whitefish cruised by Browning 25-12, 25-11, 25-10 for an easy Northwest A volleyball victory on Thursday.

Whitefish dominated net play, 38-9 in kills.

Becca Catina led Whitefish in assists with 20 and aces with five.

Whitefish plays at Corvallis and Hamilton on Saturday.

Troy 3, Bonners Ferry 1

TROY — Troy knocked down a season high 24 aces in defeating Bonners Ferry, Idaho, 24-26, 25-8, 25-13, 25-14 in a nonconference outing.

Kaitlyn Downey led the way at the service line with six aces. Katelynn Tallmadge and Mazzy Hermes were next with four each.

Downey and Annie Day shared the team high in digs with 13 apiece for Troy.

Aurora Becquart had 17 of Troy’s 31 kills.

Troy plays at Eureka in a District 7B contest on Saturday.

COLUMBIA FALLS— Columbia Falls dominated the match statistics en route to a 25-15, 25-22, 25-7 Northwest A victory over Ronan.

Columbia Falls had 30 blocks, led by Ryley Kehr’s 11. Ronan totaled 11 with Louetta Conko-Camel hitting five.

Columbia Falls held a big edge in aces, 13-1. Angellica Street led with five aces and also had a team best 16 digs.

Columbia Falls plays at Hamilton and Corvallis on Saturday.

THOMPSON FALLS — Abby Ellison had team highs in kills (13), digs (14) and aces (three) as Bigfork thumped Thompson Falls in a District 7B outing.

Lexy Van Elswyk led Thompson Falls with six kills and three blocks.

Bigfork’s next outing is Oct. 7 at home versus Eureka.
